WEIRD

Football is weird, and by weird I mean awesome. That's my 8th grader's mitt there - you'd think that as a parent I'd be concerned at the sight of something like this after a day of conditioning but oddly enough, pride drove me take this photo and write a post about it. That's the weird part right? Sacrifice everything to protect your child in one breath and "go out there and rip his spleen out!" the next. We've been involved in other sports through the years and still continue with baseball but there's something about this battlefield sport of football that overshadows the other games. It takes a different breed, it's definitely one of those "you have to be a part of it to understand it" things. Certainly to succeed in any contest it requires skill, dedication and training but football is just... different. Maybe it's because there's more "team" to a football team, a true band of brothers, not a group of "individuals" running about on the pitch taking their shirts off after every score screaming "look at me, look at meeee!"... well, not until the pros that is. 1, 2, 3, EAGLES!!!
